In the heart of the Armorique regional natural park, our town is an outstanding historical site (23 houses are protected and one is designated historical monument).

The long history and rich heritage of the city result from its remarkable location, at the bottom of one of the numerous rias in Brest harbour.

The creation of the town dates from the Xle century. Corbelling houses dating from XVI century line up along the main street ; built with schist and granite, they have slate roofs and high gables on their fronts. The magnificent XVI century church, with its Renaissance bell tower was built opposite the harbour. You should see there the XVI century baptismal basin , whose rich sculpture is unique in Brittany.

Rumengol (3 kms away from the centre). A hot spot of pilgrimage , its XVI century church was built on a sanctuary erected by king Gradlon and Saint Guenole on the remains of a druidic altare.
